ECS talks Archimedes repair and replacement at Pump Centre Conference 2016
ECS is showing a range of Archimedes screw pump repair and replacement services, plus general water control project solutions at this year’s Pump Centre 2016 Conference and Exhibition.
With over 25 years’ experience in water control and pumping projects ECS’s full turnkey service for the repair and replacement of Archimedes screw pumps and generators is an addition to the company’s wider remit as a provider of general water control structures, bridges and structural fabrications. The core of the replacement service is an exclusive partnership with leading Dutch manufacturer Landustrie.
The ECS service offer will be on show at the annual Pump Centre Conference being held at the Telford International Centre on 12th May 2016.
ECS screw pump installations offer a number of benefits; with open, clog-free, robust construction, high efficiency, low maintenance and low operational costs. In normal operation and with correct maintenance the Landustrie units deliver high reliability over the full lifetime of the product, with virtually no wear and no spare units being required.
This particular feature of the pumps is a key operational performance advantage, especially for Water Utility company contracts that are costed and evaluated under the new AMP6 TOTEX accounting model. The eliminated need for replacement spares has a big impact on whole life performance costs, not just in replacement part savings, but also the associated construction, operational downtime and re-commissioning costs required during replacement.
The completed pumping systems are highly adaptable with automatic adjustment of the pump capacity as a function of the incoming flow and, depending on the pump installation, operation across a wide flow range, with capacities from 10 to 11,500 l/s and lift from 0 to 25 m being available.
ECS has extensive experience working on complex water control projects with the major Water Utilities and their Tier 1 contractors, as well as directly with national organisations such as the Environment Agency. As a framework contractor for the Environment Agency together with a number of the UK water utilities such as Scottish, Wessex and Southern, ECS builds and refurbishes large water control structures including pumping stations as turnkey projects.
All steel work is accredited to BS EN 1090-2 and structural metal work fabrication and construction is CE marked and classified up to execution class 3 (EXC3).
Based on this complete service capability, ECS Engineering Services has recently secured several large Archimedes screw pump replacement contracts, including one for the manufacture, supply and installation of replacement screw pumps at Severn Trent Water’s large Mansfield sewage treatment works.
This project involves the replacement of the three current screw pumps; each of which weighs approximately 14 tonnes. Each screw pump is 2.3 metres in diameter, 13.5 metres long and has a pumping capacity of 800 litres per second.
ECS will welcome the opportunity to meet and discuss your water control requirements while attending the conference and exhibition.
