Job Function: An integral part of the commercial team reporting to the precontract director
The role will be predominantly focused on servicing our estimating requirements for our growing portfolio of Wastewater products and services to the UK Water Treatment Industry (For clients such as the Severn Trent Water, Anglian Water and others)
You will be required to operate directly with customers, suppliers, ECS internal Engineering, Fabrication production and sales teams to cost projects which meet customers’ technical and commercial requirements. You will produce accurate quotations that include margins, materials, labour and other associated costs including subcontracted elements.
Your proposals will include well written narrative on the technical aspects of the proposal, the key benefits of ECS and the technical aspects of the equipment selected.
Following submission of proposals, you will be expected to proactively follow up client queries and make follow up enquiries to increase levels of customer interaction to secure orders.
Upon contract win, you will participate in a launch meeting with the project delivery staff to hand over the project, including a detailed breakdown of the successful bid, technical risks and opportunities and support the PM with follow up queries through the early stages of the project lifecycle
Knowledge:
- Ability to extract information from client enquiry documentation and internal and external stakeholders and translate their technical language into persuasive business writing with a clear sales agenda.
- Liaise with other departments and our supply chain to gather all the necessary information to write compelling bid responses; for example, working with the projects team to determine the specific technical requirements and our supply chain to determine the best possible lead-in times.
- Demonstrable knowledge of the Water Utility industry and assets
- Highly organized and an excellent communicator.
- Ability to effectively inform, involve and influence others will help you manage your proposals well. A good communicator, you will share relevant information with target audience in a clear, logical and constructive way.
- You are expected to manage a wide range of estimates and tasks, running multiple enquiry responses concurrently. You will be required to display strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise multiple tasks to meet schedules
- Working in a deadline driven environment
Standards and Skills:
- Level 5 Mechanical /Electrical or Civil Engineering qualification is desirable but can be overlooked with relevant site experience and a demonstrable knowledge of the products and processes
- Good writing and editing skills. Able to write accurate and concise reports, proposals.
- IT skills — excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office/Microsoft Project.
- Presentation skills — Your presentation skills will be assessed during selection
- Utilities Sector experience – previous experience of working in the Water Treatment industry will be an essential. Demonstrable experience in products such as pumps, screening, sewage treatment equipment and or aeration products will be beneficial
